The Cosmic Oval, the original entrance of The Cosmic House, is a layered representation of several theories about the origin of the universe. The oval shape references both ancient cosmogenic myths (Chinese, Japanese, Hindu and Orphic) in which the world originates from an egg, and contemporary scientific discoveries about the elliptical shape of the universe. As in many other parts of the house related to the Cosmos, Charles Jencks consulted with astronomers during its design, making sure that his designs kept up with the most advanced contemporary science on the topic.
