Anthropomorphism is a key feature of The Cosmic House. While working on the re-design of The Cosmic House Charles Jencks was thinking and writing of anthropomorphism’s role in architecture, and some aspects of the house were a test of these ideas in practice. For instance, the Jencksiana motif found in many windows and other elements throughout the house is based on the human face. As these drawings by Terry Farrell reveal, ideas surrounding anthropomorphism in architecture also influenced the design of the rear, South-facing façade, which suggests two abstracted human figures.
